www.gogoToyHouse.comTOY HOUSE is a pop-rock band, based in San Francisco with melodic, thoughtful tunes showing insight to our modern world. Their slow songs touch deep in your heart, and their fast songs rock you more than any lover can do.
In October 1998, Toy Yamaji, singer/songwriter and the front person of the band, formed her band TOY HOUSE due to a gig. When she got a gig for a band, she hadn't had a band yet. So, she called the recording engineer Patrick Simms and asked him what she should do. So, he called some musicians who became a the band. At the time, they didn't have a band name, but on her solo CD it said TOY HOUSE for a contact address. Toy's house--TOY HOUSE, became their band name... and Patrick Simms became their lead guitar player. They had some member changes, and arrived at their current line-up over 2 years ago, with Dean Cook as a drummer, Ian Hall as a bass player (he's an original member) and Jeff Cotton as a lead guitar player. With this current lineup, they've been more active, more solid, and more established in San Francisco.
Toy, as a solo artist, always goes to open-mics. Her outstanding achievements are having performed in "Taxi Road Rally" in 2001, in front of 2000 people in LA; being one of the finalists of "Challenge 2002"( Last Stop Records ); and chosen as "Profile of the Month" by a notion wide songwriters organization "Just Plain Folks" in March 2003.
TOY HOUSE has been playing various venues in San Francisco, and they always come back to the venues once they played. The venues they've played are: Tempest, Hotel Utah, Doc's Clock, Lipo Lounge, Sacred Ground, Chit Chat Cafe, Starbucks Mariposa, ICAN Gallery, Canvas Cafe, Brainwash Cafe, Voodoo Lounge, Red Devil Lounge and Tongue & Groove. They also played for some events such as; "Cannabis Freedom Concert", "THE PICNIC" and 12 hours music marathon "BOOM SHOW" (both by Jeff Belbey Presents). And they performed an acoustic live set on the "Deek Show" (93.7fm).
